Just like a natural catastrophic events, we have been hit, quite unprepared by the technological event,
the advent of Generative AI. This has topsy turvy the world.
As someone rightfully said, "in short run, everyone overestimates the effect of the technology and in the long run they underestimate it". We are in the former phase where everyone is trying It has even created an annoying anxiety where many think they are already delayed and are not able to utilise the full potential of the AI where others are pivoting, adopting and getting on the AI bandwagon. Undoubtedly AI is a reality which is challenging every aspect of our lives. This has created an "anxiety" as we can not ascertain how the technology will pan out, we are at the moment in the wave and waiting to hit the shores. I will exaggerate here but I personally feel adopting the AI will be an existential necessity even.
As said earlier that the AI will latch onto every aspect of our existence, my concerns here are not around the "professional" adoption. The corporate has its own instincts, people sometime underestimate the commercial consciousness. It will optimise its processes to reduce the cost and increase the quality with blistering speed which will excrete any process or resources that will not comply. AI presents an amazing perspective in this regard.
My concerns are on the social aspect of AI and how it will effect our cognition as all of our inventions and discoveries have been strictly following the scientifical laws. Even if we have functional abstraction of the invention like airplanes, it is nearly impossible to understand the physics of how such a massive object can fly in the air, but it still follows the law of physics. We can explain and understand the science behind it, but when it comes to the AI, for the first time in human history (known) we have stepped in the realm of artificial imagination. We have created something that can imagine and only time can tell if artificial imagination will supersede human's as this is unimaginable,,,
